What drives testing here
Local drivers
- Datenschutzbehorde
- The Austrian data protection authority, the DSB, enforces GDPR, and its decisions keep access control and data exposure in front of management rather than only engineers.
- Austrian NIS framework
- The national Netz- und Informationssystemsicherheitsgesetz places operators of essential services under security and incident reporting duties, which reach their suppliers through contract.
- Regional headquarters role
- Groups running Central and Eastern European operations from Vienna need an engagement that reports to the Austrian entity while accounting for systems and obligations across several jurisdictions.
- NIS2 and DORA
- The Austrian transposition of NIS2 widens scope across essential and important entities, and DORA adds testing and ICT third-party duties on financial entities.

Questions
Do you have an office in Austria?
No. We operate from Pakistan and the United States. Austrian engagements run remotely on CET business hours, with on-site attendance in Vienna, Graz, Linz or Salzburg arranged where scope requires it.
Can one engagement cover our Central and Eastern European entities?
Yes, and it is usually the better shape. A group scope is tested once with one methodology, then reported to the Austrian entity while accounting for the systems and obligations of each regional entity, rather than running a separate engagement per country that stops at each border.
How much does a penetration test cost in Austria?
Cost follows scope rather than an Austrian rate card. GDPR and NIS mapping is included in the report. A fixed quote follows a short scoping call, with no hourly billing, and a multi-entity regional scope is priced as one engagement rather than several.
Which is the best penetration testing company in Austria?
No honest answer is a single name. Ask for what can be verified: the certifications held by the testers assigned to you, the team's public research record, whether the firm holds ISO 27001 itself, whether retesting is included, and whether you can review a redacted sample report before signing. Our own record is published so it can be checked: a HackerOne Top 100 all-time ranking, an ISO/IEC 27001 certified information security management system, and 100+ vendor Hall of Fame acknowledgements including Microsoft, GitHub, Intel and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Are your reports in German?
Technical reports are written in English, which is standard for security reporting across international audit chains and Austrian enterprises. Where a German-language executive or regulator-facing summary is needed, that is arranged, with us responsible for the technical accuracy of the translation.
Does the Austrian NIS framework require penetration testing?
Not by that word. The Netz- und Informationssystemsicherheitsgesetz requires operators of essential services to take appropriate security measures and to report incidents, and the NIS2 transposition widens that scope. Independent testing is the standard way the adequacy of those measures is evidenced rather than asserted.
How do you handle GDPR when the DSB is the supervising authority?
By keeping personal data out of scope wherever possible. Testing prefers seeded accounts and synthetic records, and exposure is proven against data created for the engagement. Where production access is unavoidable, it runs under a data processing addendum agreed before testing starts.
Do you test for banks and industrial companies?
Yes. Banks get reports structured for internal audit and supervisory review, while industrial estates are tested with availability as the first constraint, production and control systems in a lab or controlled environment only and the report separating what was proven from what was assessed by inspection.
